LAWN TENNIS.
• A very enjoyable match was played at the .Canterbury College courts on Saturday between the Canterbury College and Sydenham Tennis Clubs. The weather was ’perfect, and the play excellent. There was a large number of spectators, and afternoon tea was provided by tho College Club. The College team won by 89 games to 68. Marshall (president, in the chair), F. Banks, W. Brice, J. Barker, ,K. Bassett and F. J. Murray (honorary secretary). The Secretary reported having made all necessary arrangements ‘with Mr Templar’s trustees to procure the section decided on, and it was resolved to call a general .meeting for Wednesday, April 27., A set of rules was drafted from those of the Canterbury and Linwood .Clubs,, to be approved of, and a Biib-coinmitteb,. composed o± Messrs Marshall, Bassett, Brice and Murray, appointed to draw up a report to be laid before the meeting. The Honorary Secretary. reported having received over ene hundred applications for membership. This concluded, the; business. .
