Board, in pursuance of the power in that H behalf conferred by “The Education Act, 1677 ” and “ The School Committees Election Act, 1591,” hereby directs that a PUBLIC MEETING of the Householders in every School District throughout the Education District of North Canterbury bo held on MONDAY, the TWENTYFIFTH DAY of APEfL, One thousand Eight hundred, and Ninety-eight, ar. half-past seven o’clock in the evening, for the ELECTION of a SCHOOL COMMITTEE for such District for the yeir ending with the fourth Monday in April next year. In the fol owing districts the electors are called upon to elect a Committee of nine members:— Addington, Ashburton, Belfast, Christchurch East, Christchurch West, Fendalton, Hampstead, Kaiapoi, Lyttelton, l apauui, Kangioia, Richmond, St Allans, Sydenham, T'altham, Woolsion. The place of meeting shall bo the seboolhouse in each district, and this is understood to mean the Main School in any district which has more than one school, except in the case of Christchurch East, in which district the p a-e of meeting shall be St John’s Schoolroom, Latimer Square. The Board further directs that the first meeting of each School CommiUeo he held in the place appointed for the election and immediately after the election upon the same evening. The Board further calls upon the householders in each-of the districts to send in to the Chairman of the School Committee, in writing, on or before Monday, April 18th, the names of persons, being resident householder!, nominated by them for election to serve upon the Commitee. Such nominations must be signed by the proposer and by the Candidate, and must he in the form set forth in the Schedule to the Act or to the effect thereof. In addition to such nominations, any householder present at the meeting may nominate any qualified Candidate who consents by word of mouth or by writing to be so nominated, i H. C. LANE, Secretary.
