INTENDING Visitors to this portion of the Southern Alps may now proceed either by rail to Pairlie, and thence by coach leaving Fairlie on Tuesdays and Fridays, or by rail to Kurow, and from there by coach to Pokaki, on Tuesdays, connecting with the Fairlie coaches at Pukaki, leaving on Wednesdays. Tourists can take the regular mail coach or arrange at Fairlie for special buggy at about the same rate, viz., 70s return. The Hermitage is under the care of Mr and Mrs Boss, with Mr Clark as guide. Riding horses to visit the Tasman Glacier and other wonders can he hired at the Hermitage. The rooms are comfortable and the table well provided.
