Tfce Proprietors of the “Canterbury Times”l propose to inaugurate a series of PnoTOOß.«pnic CowrKTiTTOKB open to bona f:<le amateur photographers in all parts of New Zealand. For the first competition three prizes will be offered. It is essential that the photographs sent in Bho'dd’oe suitable for reproduction in the paper; otherwise, they will he considered ineligible for competition. Pictures which have previously appeared in other journals, are prohibited. Photographs may ho printed on any paper by any process, nmlmay be of any size, provided they ha not smaller than quarter-plate. They must he mounted on plain card mounts. Competent judges have been secured, who are instructed to consider :—First, Artistic Eicei.lf.itof. ; accord, Teciisicai. Excel, leitce ; third. Suitability i on Eepeoductioit. PRIZES. The prizes will bo :—First, 2gs; second, Ig ; third, ig, with bound copies of Stoddart’s photographs of famous cities, scents and paintings. JUDGES.
