The weather was bleak and showery for the concluding day’s racing of the Dunedin Jockey Club’s Autumn Meeting, but, despite this fact, there was a very fair attendance, and the racing was interesting. The sum of .£7132 was passed through the totalisator, making £23,996 for the meeting, or an increase of £3297 over the amount handled at the corresponding gathering last year. Belmont was first to show in front, and after traversing a mile was six lengths in front of Stanley and Ned Kelly, with Ilex a couple of lengths further away- _ Belmont continued to show the way until just after entering the last round, when Ned Kelly went to the front, and going on won very easily by a dozen lengths. Time —4min 22 ’see. Dividends—£7 15s and £7 10s. The stewards reviewed the running of Ned Kelly on Wednesday; and Thursday, and decided to take the stakes away from him, and to order the totalisator to pay out on Belmont, on whom the dividends were £3 2s and £2 12s. Cannonshot, with Vandyke and Culverin, led past the stand, but at the bottom turn Bed Lancer ran up to the leaders, and Vandyke and Culverin began to fall away., As they ran down the back stretch. Red Lancer and Cannonshot were in front, and the pair led round the top turn, with Culverin and Vandyke next, and Skirmisher moving up. Red Lancer led into the straight, with Culverin second, but the latter immediately retired, and Red Lancer increasing his advantage, won rather easily by three lengths from Skirmisher. Time—2min 13sec. Dividends —£3 8s and £3 10s. SECOND ECLIPSE STAKES, of 500 sovs; weight for age, with certain penalties and allowances.

The four ran together all the way, but the outsiders remained near the others only on sufferance, and in the last two hundred yards Mr Stead’s pair drew out, and Conqueror won by half a length- Time— Imin 19|sec. Dividends —£1 Is and £1 2s.

Urisa was bracketed on the totalisator with La Reine, Brisa whipped round and took no part m the race, and La Reine jumped away in front, followed by Ben Farley and Circlet, with the others in straggling order. The trio named led to the top turn, where La Reine gave way to Ben Farley and Circlet, and a capital struggle resulted in a victory for the former by three-quarters of a length. Time —Imin 6sec. Dividends—£3 and £3 16s. A protest against Ben Farley, on the ground that his rider struck Circlet over the head with his whip, was dismissed.

At the Reefton Racing Club’s Autumn Meeting on Saturday the weather was magnificent and the attendance better than on the first day. The results were:—County Plate—Sea Breeze. Farewell Handicap—Review. Dividend —£5 9s. During the two days £B3BB was passed through the totalisator.
