[Per Press Association.! AUCKLAND, March 17. Messrs Horne and Johnston, tributers of the 400 ft level in the Kapanga mine, secured 2001 b of specimens and 80lb of picked stone, value >£looo. The Exchange is closed for the holiday. DUNEDIN, March 17. The following report of the Mount Lyell Mining and Railway Company for the week ending Feb. 23 has been received from Dunedin from our special correspondent: —Smelting plant No. I—Five furnaces in operation. Prolongation of main brick flue for No. 6 furnace: In progress. Smelting plant No. 2—Excavation for building, &c., proceeding. Platelaying of inclined haulage line for materials—ln progress ; formation completed. Excavation for main chimney—Progressing favourably; other preliminaries in hand. New laboratory—lnterior construction in progress. New machine shop —Nearly ready to occupy. New sawmill —Nearing completion. Converter plant—Extension of storage and loading platform in hand. Five thousand four hundred and thirtysix tons of blister copper have been consigned to date, being 2171 tons for the current half-year.
