TEAMS FOR AUSTRALIA. United Press Association—By Electric TelegraphCopyright, Received March 17, 9.45 a.m. LONDON, March 16. The secretary of the County Cricket Association, with the concurrence of several colleagues, suggests that the Marylebone Cricket Club should select future English cricket teams for Australia, in preference to the present haphazard method of selection.

A match was played at Eangiora yesterday afternoon between the local club and Gust. The latter batted first, and made 68 (H. Blunden 16). Eangiora knocked up 131 for the loss of five wickets, when rain stopped the game. The highest scorers were Sinclair 33 and E. Chapman 21. Chapman and Felton bowled best for the winners, and H. Blunden and A. T. Chapman' for Oust. A match was played at Lancaster Park yesterday between the Post and Telegraph and a team from the Bland Holt Company, when the former won by 32 runs on the first innings. The scores were:—Bland Holt’s team, 87 and 53 for four wickets. The highest scorers were Ford 31 and 13 (not out), Cogan 22, Baker 0 and 24. Post and Telegraph, Palmer 48, Ford 24, Gerard 20. Baker and Hicky bowled well for the losers, and Treweek and King for the Post and Telegraph. At Kaiapoi Park yesterday a match was played between the Sons of Temperance and the Thursday team, and ended in a victory for the Sons of Temperance oy the narrow majority of 2 runs. The scores were : —Sons of Temperance 145, and the Thursday team 143. For the winners H. Blackwell 47 (not out), W. Blackwell and Forsyth 26 each, were the chief scorers; and for the Thursday team. Brown 31, Robilliard 20 and G. Oram 20 (not out.)
