The writers admit that the Klondyke is wonderfully rich, but so many thousands of Americans and Canadians are ready to rush the field when the spring comes, that it will be wise for visiting Australians to make provision for ■returning in the event of failure.

A man named Gregan and his son were drinking together. The son knocked his father down for making a disparaging remark about his dead mother, and left him lying in a passage all night. He went in. the morning for a doctor, but his father was then dead. The son is in custody.
