MINING.

Tus following report of the Mount Lyell Mining and Railway Company for the week ending Nov. 17, has been received from Dunedin from our special correspondent:—Smelting plant Five furnaces in operation, excavation for foundation of sixth furnace. started and well in hand, erection of u atte storage shed on slag dump in progress. New smelting plant —Beginning made with excavations for same, starting on railway siding to level of slag dump. New laboratory—Foundations for same commenced. Limestone quarry—Four storage bins completed and being filled. No. 4 locomotive assembled and now running, giving every satisfaction. Converter plant—lolo tons of blister copper consigned to date, being 745 tons for the current half-yestr; total production to date, 4170 tons.
