THEATRE ROYAL

Professor Norton B. Smith, who has attained considerable success as an educator of horses, and who has been demonstrating his powers as an instructor in various parts of the world, has arrived in Christchurch, and made arrangements to give three entertainments at the Theatre Royal. The first will take place to-night at eight o’clock. The Professor is said to have marvellous powers over the most vicious animals, and is also very successful in his treatment of nervous horses. His performances at Home and in America and Africa have been largely patronised, and in the North Island, where he has been recently, the Press speaks in high terms of his exhibit!* —i as an entertainment and on account of its educational value. Professor Smith will handle a number of colts on the stage, which has been specially fitted for the performance, and arrangements have been made so that those in the body of the theatre need have no fear of any of the unruly animals jumping into the auditorium. The treatment is spoken of as very humane, no violence of any kind being used, and kindness is the keynote to Professor Smith’s success. A number of unhandled horses have been arranged for, and any person having a vicious or nervous horse is requested to bring it to the Professor, who will treat it free of charge. An efficient orchestra has been engaged, and those who take an interest in the training and management of horses can rely upon a treat by visiting the entertainment.
