' Further severe fighting has occurred at Malakand. The British forces lost thirteen killed and forty-three wounded, while the Ohitralese had a hundred killed. The garrison is now short of provisions. July SO. Nightly attacks are being m ade, on tbe British forces at Malakand. During the day parties of natives in the ' hills harass the garrison. They have succeeded in burning the British tents at North Malakand, and the camp there has been abandoned. '

The Earl of Elgin, Viceroy of India, is using his power to arrest and deport disloyal persons without trial. This action is causing a great sensation throughout the country. Bail has been refused to Bal Sangahar Tilah.- A Poona editor named Kelkan has been arrested and sent'to Bombay.
