AUSTRALIA.

[Per Press Association.] EIFLE ASSOCIATION.

MELBOURNE, Jm,y

At the meeting of the Eifle Association, § communication was received from the New South Wales Association stating that it had been decided to withdraw from the Council of the Eifle Association of Australasia. The ground of the withdrawal is that the Council, as at present constituted, is of no practical utility, there being no continuing organisation to carry out resolutions passed at the annual meetings. The last meeting of the Council in New Zealand is instanced, when a resolution was carried favouring the sending of a federal team to Bisley. The matter then ended so far as federal action was concerned, but three of the federated Associations arranged separately to send teams. It is considered that joint action will be of no practical utility till a Federal Association under a federation of the colonies is established.
