Mails close for the following places as under, subject to the necessary alterations ; Thursday, July 29. For Northern Ports and Westport, per Janet Nicoll, at 11.10 a.m.; date fee letters, 11.20 a.m.; guard’s van, 13.10 p.m. train. For Northern Ports, Westport, Australian Colonies, via Auckland, Ceylon, India, China, &c., also United Kingdom and Continent of Europe, for correspondence directed via Suez, per Rotorua, to connect with Tarawera, at 7.45 p.m.; late fee letters, 8 p.m.; guard’s van, 9.15 p.m. train. Due London Sept, 15. Friday, July 30. For Greymouthand Coast, per Rosamond, at 3 p.m.; late fee letters, 3.15 p.m.; guard’s van, 4 p.m. train. Monday, August 2. For Chatham Islands, per Kahn, at 7.45 p.m.; late fee letters, S p.m. ; guard’s van, 9.15 p.m. train. Wednesday, August 4. For Northern Ports, Fiji and Hawaii, also correspondence specially addressed “ per Aorangi,” for British Columbia, Canada, United States, United Kingdom, &c. (due London Sept. 9), and for Samoa, Hawaii, also United States, Canada, West Indies, &0.. United Kingdom, and Continent of Europe, via San Francisco (due London Sept. 8), per Takapuna, at 7.45 p.m.; late foe letters, 8 p.m.; late letter box in ticket vestibule. Railway Station, 9.10 p.m.; money orders, 4 p.m.; registered letters, 5 p.m.; books and newspapers, 7.30 p.m. Mails for Australia, per Mararoa, close at Wellington on July 29, at 10a.m, Mails for South America, &c., per Maori, close at Wellington on July 29, at 10 a.m. Mails for Cromarty, Puysegur Point and To Oneroa close at Invercargill on July 29, at 11 a.m. Mails for Rarotonga .and Tahiti, per Upolu, close at Auckland on August 4. Mails for South Africa leave Melbourne on August 5. From July 26 a second daily mail will'be exchanged with Hornby, closing at Christchurch at 3 p.m. and Hornby at 9 a.m. Note. —From August 1 to Sept. 30, the mail to Upper Waian Ferry and Hanmer Plains will be closed at Christchurch at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, returning on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
