ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
[Per Press Association. ! . LONDON, April 2, Lord Loch had a narrow escape while riding in a hansom in the city. The horse bolted and dashed towards the Whitehall Club. Lord Loch leaped out only a moment before the cab was completely smashed.
THE DYNAMITE DISASTER. PERTH, April 3. Two more of the victims of the dynamite accident in the Mount Charlotte mine at Kalgoorlie have succumbed. The names of those dead are Milson, Murphy, Wilson and Wickcroft. Two others, who were working in the higher levels, inhaled the fumes, and are lying in a critical condition. MASTERTON, April 3. A sad fatal accident occurred here to Michael Williams, a well-known and highly - respected contractor. Deceased was engaged on the Wairarapa Farmers’ Association’s new premises here, when the scaffold gave way. He was thrown twelve feet, and sustained slight concussion of the brain. Shortly afterwards a blood-vessel on the brain broke, and the injured man sank rapidly.
A man named Michael Dunn was brought to the hospital from West Melton on Saturday, suffering from an injury to one of his eyes. The injury was causedby a piece of wood, which he was chopping flying up and striking him. It is feared that he will lose the sight of the eye. A man named Harry Quartermain met with an accident near Sheffield on Saturday morning. He was travelling with Mr Adam White’s traction engine, and while he was attempting to get on to the waggon behind the engine, he slipped and the waggon passed over his feet, crushing the right one rather severely. He was brought to°Christchurch by train and admitted to the hospital.
