ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
[Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, Feb. 9. Captain J. Braund, a well known shipmaster, aged sixty-eight, died very suddenly of apoplexy this morning while superintending repairs on the roof of his house.; Captain Braund was in 'charge of the schooner. Albatross in 1870, when Lord Pembroke and Dr Kingsley made the cruise through. the South Sea Islands, which gave rise, to their book, “ South Sea Bubbles.” WELLINGTON, Feb. 9. • .Mrs Lean; while riding a bicycle on Kent Terrace, was knocked off the machine by a. trap. She broke one armandsustained.other injuries. Joim Jamieson, a milkman, was thrown from his cart and killed in Te Arp Street. Yesterday Mr Inspector Broham received a telegram from Constable. Parker at Waimafce, stating that Mrs Winifred Martin, a widow, ninety-five years of age, living with her son, a farmer at Glenavy, died suddenly on Monday morning. She had been in'failing health 1 for some time, but had had no medical attendance since a year ago, when Dr Hayes, of Temuka, attended her. Dr Barclay gave a certificate: of death from failure' of the heart’s action...
