RIGHTING IN CRETE. THREE HUNDRED LIVES LOST. [Per Press Association.] CONSTANTINOPLE, Feb. 6. Fierce street fighting has occurred at Canea, in Crete, The troops are assisting the rioters. The Christian quarter of the town has been burnt, and three hundred persons have been killed. Many persons are talcing refuge on the warships. The foreign Consuls are powerless to stop the fighting. The rising is becoming general throughout the island. Greece is despatching an ironclad cruiser.
