A man named Farmer has been arrested at Scarborough on the charge of having committed seventeen forgeries in America, the stuns aggregating one million dollars. THE PACIFIC CABLE. Captain George Neville has been re-appointed commandant of the Victorian Navy. Staff-surgeon John Thomas has been appointed to the Orlando, Staffsurgeon Lilly to the Mildura, and Surgeon E. H. M’Sherry to the Wallaroo.

ATHENS, Jan. 29. An extraordinary riot has taken place in this city. The University students were irritated because one of the professors rebuked them for hindering an operation. They broke out in open revolt, stoned the police, garrisoned the University, and established a cordon of armed sentries.
