ANGLICAN SYNOD.

[Per Press Association.] DUNEDIN, Nov. 5. At the Anglican Synod last night the Bible in Schools Committee reported m favour of the formation of a league for the purpose of urging an amendment of the Education Act, so that religious instruction in schools might be carried out ou the plan embodied in the Education Act of New South Wales. Several speeches were made in support of the proposal, including one by Bishop Nevill. Canon Gould thought that the Anglican body should not jeopardise the present united efforts being made for religious education by standing aloof from other bodies moving in the same direction, and moved as an amendment that they should not press for the admission of clergy into the schools. The motion whs carried by a. large majority. At the Anglican Synod a motion was carried approving of the suggestion of the Bishop with reference to the consecration of an assistant bishop.
