MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS.

Nominations of candidates for the City Council and the Sydenham and Sumner Borough Councils will close at noon today. _ ' Mr C. Lafferty has been nominated to represent the Waltham Ward on the Sydenham Borough Council. The following persons were yesterday nominated for the three vacancies on the Lyttelton Borough Council., The election takes place on Wednesday next';—Messrs N. C. Schumacher, T. L. Smithy J. IBing- V worth, R. Brown, W. H. Dailey, W. Radcliffe and A. Chalmers.

The following have been nominated for seats on the Linwood Borough Council:— Messrs Aaron Ayers, Matthew Stoddart Brown, John Russell Brunt, Thomas Arthur Bullock, Joseph Cleworth, Joseph Taylor and John Joseph Dougall. A poll will be taken on Thursday, Sept. 10, for the election of three Councillors.

The following candidates were nominated yesterday for the Woolston Borough Council: —Messrs John Collinson Hobson, John Edwin Garland and John Cogan Lord. There being only three required, Mr W. Wills, the returning-officer, declared those gentlemen duly elected.

The following were nominated as candidates for councillors at Kaiapoi yesterday : Messrs W. Fraser, R. Hopkins, H. H. Hunt and John Simpson.
