ELLESMERE A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.

A general meeting of members of this Association and subsequently a committee meeting were held in the Leeston Hotel on Tuesday last. There was a large attendance, Mr G. E. Rhodes (president) in the chair. ■ The motion passed at last meeting to admit lady members was confirmed, and Miss Rose Gal pin was elected a member. A large number of new members were elected. Mr R. Wright proposed to reduce the charge for admittance on show day to one shilling all day, but it was thought the earlier presence of the public would interfere with the work of the judges, and the motion was lost. The President, Mr G. E. Rhodes, offered.to erect a new range of pig yards at his own cost, subject to the Association increasing the amount of prize-money in classes for pigs. The offer was accepted, and, on the motion of Mr F. Jameson, a vote of thanks was passed to Mr Rhodes for his liberality. Mr A. M’Lachlan brought up the question'of sampling dairy produce. To enable the public to sample prize cheese, he offered to pay the Association fid per lb for cheese, the Association to pay this price to the first and seeond-prize-takers. Mr M’Lachlan’s offer was accepted with thanks. -In answer to correspondence from Mr S. Graham, it was decided to pay him The amount of the second prize in the pony class. The judges and class stewards for the forthcoming show were appointed. Several amendments were_ made in the programme. The Secretary reported having received liberal promises of support for the special-prize list. After transacting business of a routine nature, the meeting closed.
