FIRES.

The seven-roomed house in Matheson’s Road, Lin wood, which was- destroyed by fire on Wednesday night, was owned by Mr Sawtell, and insured in the Commercial Union Office for £225. The house had only been empty for about a fortnight. About 2 a.m. yesterday, a four-roomed house belonging to Mr R. Garland, situated in Junction Street, Woolstou, was destroyed by fire. It was occupied by Mrs Dixon and her family, and was insured in the Manchester office for £l5O. Mrs Dixon’s furniture was insured in the Australian Alliance bffice for £IOO.
