THE MATABELE RISING.
SOME DESPERATE PI OUTING. A RELIEF PARTY KILLED. [Per Press Association.] CAPETOWN, April 3. Two thousand additional natives are entrenched at Matoppo. The British are forming columns for the purpose of sweeping the hills, A Matebele force attacked a small relief party, and after a desperate struggle killed the party, capturing 3000 rounds of ammunition and thirty rifles. Subsequently a patrol party encountered the natives, and defeated and killed thirty of them. The natives fought with assegais, and the struggle was hand to hand. The total native loss was over one hundred.
