GRAIN AND PRODUCE.
Business was virtually suspended in town on Saturday, nearly all the grain merchants having closed up for the Easter holidays. The exports of grain and produce from Lyttelton for the past week comprise 10,554 sacks wheat, 1704 sacks and 1019 bags flour, 721 sacks oats, 471 sacks barley, 389 sacks malt, 898 sacks bran, 172 sacks pollard, 85 sacks sharps, 50 sacks meal, 188 sacks peas, 91 sacks beans, 23 sacks tares, 759 sacks seed, 1841 sacks chad, 302 bales hay and straw, 1733 sacks potatoes, 400 sacks onions, 40 boxes butter, 10 cases cheese, 42 cases hams and bacon, 150 boxes soap, 5 crates poultry, 9 boxes eggs and 232 cases fruit. The following are current; prices:—■ Wheat. —New, .3s 2d to 3s 4d. Oats.— Prime milling, 2s to 2s Id; short feed. Is lOd to 2s ; Duns and Danish Is 9d to Is lOd. Barley. —Malting, prime, 3s 6d to 4s; medium do, 3s 3d to 3s 6d,- second quality 2s 6d to 3s, feed 2s 3d, Cape barley 2s 3d to 2s 6d. Beans.— Well-saved 2s 3d. Peas. —Blue Prussians, 3s 4d to 3s Sd; white, 3s 3d to 3s 6d. Flour. —Millers quote roller .£lO, stone £0 10s, sharps <£4, bran £6 10s, Oatmeal =£lllos. Oatsheap Chaff. —42s 6d to 47s 6d at handy country stations, according to quality. Onions. —=£4 at country stations. Potatoes. —Kidneys 40s, Derwcnts 30s to 355, both at country stations. Grass Seed. —Ryegrass, farmers’ lots, 2s 6cl to 3s 3d; machine-dressed to 4s, heavy-weight 4s 3d. Cocksfoot 3d to 3ld, town machine-dressed 4d to 4r}d, extra to 4Jd. Dairy Produce. —Cheese 3fd to 4d, loaf 44d to 5cL Butter—Factory lOd, dairy 7d to Bd, salt 6d. Bacon and hams .6d. Tho above prices are paid to farmers f.o.b. Lyttelton, except where otherwise stated.
