KAIAPOI BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The fortnightly meeting of this Council was held on Tuesday; present—-Qouncil-lors Weston (acting Mayor), Mathews, Hopkins, Doubleday, Clark. Bugg. Drabble, Simpson and Blakely. Correspondence was read on ■ matters of routine. The Finance Committee reported re -eipts <B4l Is lid, debit balance at bank <8273 10s 3d, and, recommended amounting to '£63 12a 3d • for payment. ‘ The report was adopted. Mr W. Cpx, lessee of the Reserve on the North Road, waited on the Council with reference to defining the. boundary between his land and the Native Reserve; also with reference to the shingle pit. The matters wore referred to the Works Committee and the Clerk. A deputation consisting ot Messrs E. Moore, G. Blackwell and J. L. Wilson interviewed the Council with reference to the public bath wbich had been sanctioned at the late public meeting, and indicated the site they had hhosen m Black Street, near Mr Blackwell's store. Tney ectimated the cost at- about <8250 or <8275, the “ize to be 100 feet by 30 feet, and asked the Council to give" <BSO towards its construction. When com-, pleted the bath would be handed over to the Council and would be a valuable asset as an aid to. fire prevention. The Council unanimously voted the money, and the; deputation cordially thanked the Council and withdrew. Councillor Clark drew the attention of the Works Committee to the dirty state of Smith Street. The matter was ordered to be attended to at once. The Council then sat as the Domain Board, and discussed several matters .of,detail.
