TPb»-Pbbbs Association.J ,j- : - , . , WELLINGTON, July 16. A deputation waited upon the Premier urging .that the usual support ' should be continued to the New Zealand Biflo Association. Tbs Premier stated that the'circular of last year withdrawing the Government subsidy from the Association: was. the result of the reports of the leading military men of the colony. For Lmany-jeara the intention was to give a 'greater amount of support to volunr tears in shooting. He had noticed that .‘the winners of prizes at the Association meetings were chiefly old hands, f hnd shooing appeared to have degen--7 anted to pot-hunting. The position of the 'Association this year, as a member of a federated association, was a new feature, -and bad to be mat. For the coming year he would grant the concession for the meeting so that it would not fall through, but this, it must be understood, only referred to the one meeting. The amount of railway fares would be placed -’ OB the'Estimates and passed as a direct as be thought that the railways ihohld .shdw all they earned.
