CHEISTCHUECH. Thoebdat, July 11. {Before Mr & Tombs, J.P., and Mr J. M. Bathara, J.P.) Alleged Bbbach of the Bankeuptct Act.— Frederick William Drummond was charged with having failed, on Jan. 5, to deliver to the Official Assignee in Bankruptcy all his property, as required by law. Mr Cresswell appeared for the Official Assignee, and Mr Eussell for the defendant, who pleaded guilty. Mr Bussell addressed the Bench, and asked that the defendant might be given the benefit of the First Offenders Probation Act. Mr Cresswell replied. Mr Bussell called a number of witnesses, who depoasd as to the good character hitherto borne by the defendant. Their Worships decided to place the defendant on probation for sis months on condition that he paid the costs of the prosecution (£5), at the rate of £1 a month. (Before Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M.) Civil Cases. — Judgment by default with costs was given for plaintiffs in the following cases S. G. Unwin v. T. Corcoran, claim £8 16a 6d, costa .£1 15s; F. W. Eutland v. J. B. Piggott, .£1 8a 6d, costs 5s (Mr Byrne for plaintiff); Sclanders and Co. v. J. Wilson, £25 Oa 9d, costs £2 16s (Mr Bruges for plaintiffs); Godfrey and others v. E. Kingan, £l2 3a 2d (Mr Bishop for plaintiffs).—L. Adcock y. J. MunrOjdaim £lO 16s 2d; judgment summons. This case was adjourned till Sept. 12 on the application of Mr Caygill, who appeared for the creditor.

ASHBURTON. Thursday, July 11. (Before Major Keddell, S.M.) Industrial Schools Act. —Elizabeth Brown was charged with leaving her home. She was given another chance to return to her parents. Borough By-laws. S. Bernard was charged with depositing offal in the borough. Mr Cuthbartson appeared for accused, who was fined Ss and costs 14s. ■ Building By-law. T. Bullock was charged with erecting a building within (be building block without first depositing plans with the Borough Council or giving notice to the engineer. Defendant was fined 10a and coats 19s.—H. Biggie, charged with a similar offence, was fined Is and coats 9a. •Mines Act. —G. T. Park, leasee of the Mount Somers Coal Mine, was charged by thoinspector.Mr John Gow, with neglecting to send in the required returns within the specified time. Mr Cutbbertson, for defendant, pleaded guilty. A fine of £2 and costa, 16s 6d, was inflicted. Maintenance. Ambrose Fox was ordered to pay 13s per week towards the •jupport of his wife and children. « Aewliation.—■-Archibald M’Naught was.
