FIRES.
[Feb Pbess Association."] NAPIER, Maech 4. A nine-ioomed house in Cameron Road, the property of Mr Alexander Davidson, and occupied by Mrs Robertson, was destroyed by Sre last night. The house was insured for JB4OO in the Norwich Union office. The furniture was uninsured. DUNEDIN, Maech 4. A fire at North-east Valley last night destroyed a five-roonsed cottage occupied by Mr Stewart and family. The building was insured for .£l5O and the furniture for .£SO in the Alliance Office. An alarm of firo was, given about three o’clock yesterday at Temuka, a growth, of gorse between the Opihi and Temuka rivers having been set on fire, it is supposed, by a spark from the engine of the express train. The lira was stopped at the Opihi bridge by the Temuka Eire Brigade. The combine and elevator of a threshing plant belonging to Mr W. Smith, Plaxton, wore destroyed by fire on Sunday afternoon. The man in charge was away at the time of the outbreak, and can give EO information as to the causa of the fire.
