CHINA AND JAPAN.
[Special to Press Association.] SHANGHAI, March 4. The Japanese have occupied the Sargentai district in Manchuria as far as Tapeckou. They are steadily advancing on Newchang. have had frequent fights with the Chinese, but suffered only trivial loss. Three Japanese cruisers engaged the forts at Tenchyor for a tune, and then retired, for what object is not known. The mutual peace negotiations are progressing favourably.
