CHRISTCHURCH. Wednesday, Feb. 27. (Before Messrs S. D. Barker and T. M’Clatchie. J.P.’s.) Alleged Vagbanct.— Charles Ward alias Verne alias William Charles Hazel was charged with having insufficient lawful means of support. On his own application the accused was remanded till the next day. • Miscellaneous. —Joseph Mllroy, for allowing a horse to wander at large at Upper Riccartoa on Fob. 4, was fined 5s and costs.—George Vale, for leaving a horse and buggy unattended without locking the wheel, in Colombo Street, on Feb. 14, was fined 5s and costs.—W, H. Morrison, for leaving a waggon unattended and without the wheel locked, in Lichfield Street on Feb. 15, was fined 10s and costs. LYTTELTON. Wednesday, Feb. 27. (Before Mr E. Beetham, S.M.) Drunkenness.— Two first offenders were each fined ss, in default twenty-four hours* imprisonment. Alleged Larceny.— Donald M’Eae was charged with the larceny of a pipe, the property of W.'Wales, valued at 4s. The evidence of W. Wales, hairdresser, was to the effect that accused was in his shop on Fob. 9 at 8 p.m. Just after ha had gone witness miased the pipe produced, and spoke to accused about it. Accused said he had picked up a pipe in the street and had sold it to a cook on one of the steamers. Witness then saw the person who produced the pipe. The police applied for a remand to allow of other witnesses being present. This was granted until Wednesday next. Judgment Summons. —C. E. Nichols 'v. G. Dimond, claim .£ls 8s on judgment summons. Mr Nalder for judgment creditor, Mr Joyce for debtor. After hearing the evidence the amount was ordered to be' paid within an hour, in default two months’ imprisonment. Civil Cases.— John Thompson v. Archibald Thompson, claim £29 13s 3d. Mr Nalder for plaintiff. Defendant admitted owing £29, and judgment was given for that amount.—W. Baxter v. J. Haydon, claim £l6 6s. Mr Joynt for defendant.
