George Wright states that the jockey Gallagher seat the telegram last month accepting with Royal Rose for the Wellington Cup by mistake. WELLINGTON, Jan. 19. There were several good working gallops at the Hutt this morning. Golden Plover defeated Placet over a mile and a quarter by a dozen lengths in creditable time. Mabaki had the best of Arius once round. St John picked the pair up at the six furlongs post, and finished in front of Mafaaki. Mabaki pulled up very fresh. Lady Zetland went once round in a pleasing manner, moving freely. Lottie, looking rather light, did serviceable work. Saracen did not relish a six furlong task. Searchlight finished half a dozen lengths ahead of Heavenly Twin over six furlongs. Ormond’s team • arrived, last night. Mr Douglas, J. Mahers, and rßangipuhi arrive this afternoon.
