SWIMMING.

The Sydenham Swimming Club will hold its first meeting of the season tomorrow. Included in the programme is a 50yds inter-club race for which twentysix entries have been received, representing Richmond, Christchurch, East Christchurch and Sydenham. Two polo matches will be played, namely: Richmond v. Sydenham and Christchurch v. East Christchurch. Mr W. B. Eyre has framed the following handicap for the 50yds Interclub Race:—First Heat— H. Bullivant scr, J. W. Eaves 4sec, G. Cobbledick ssaec and W. A. Howison 9£aec; second heat— W, Bassett 2aeo, G. J. C. Smart 4seo, C. Dowding 6Jsec and P. H. Shaw Baec; third heat—J. M. Watson 2sec, H. E, Hiorns ssec, R. Maddren Gisec, A. Calvert 9aec and A. E. Milne 17sec; fourth heat— C. J. Allen 3sec, G. R. Bell 4 Jaec, W. P. Anderson 6sec, A. Denham 7isec and C. Hiorns 14|sec; fifth heat—C. H. Fox Sjeec, W. A. Hall 4aec, A. E. Truscott 6aec and W. Betts lOsec; sixth heat—C. Kent 3-Jeec, H. Pi Jewiss 6sec, H. Hobbs 7Jsec and R. Hampton 12sec. Two swimming races were held under the auspices of the Ashburton Swimming Club on Wednesday evening. They resulted as follow: —Fifty Yards (Boys)=“E. M’Teague 4sec, 1; J. Birch 4aec, 2. Two others started. Time Hundred Yards Seniors (the placed men to count points for Mr Buckley’s trophy)—E. Purchase 9ssc, 1; J. M’Teague lOsec, 2; H. Curtis Baec, 3. Five others started. Time—97aec.
