CHINA AND JAPAN.
[Special to Press Association.! SHANGHAI, Oct. 17. Foreigners have been ordered to quit Pekin. Oct. 18.
The Japanese are encamped on a narrow neck of land near Port Arthur, waiting an opportunity for the fleet to support them.
The Japanese headquarters in Corea ate still at Ping-yang, with an outpost on the Yalu River. The party in China in favour of peace is only small. Prince Kung is strongly urging peace. TOKIO, Oct. 18. Japan will shortly raise her import duties.
WASHINGTON, Oct. 18. The United States Government is sending warships to China.
