Hammond, £2 16a 6d; Izard and Loughnan v. N. Fitzgerald, £4 16s 6d; Wardell Bros v. Mrs C. Williams, £2 10a 6d, Mr Pleaher for plaintiffs. Trades Auxiliary Company v. W. J. Skinner, claim £3 3s. Mr Russell for plaintiffs, for whom judgment was given for the amount claimed, with costs.—Same v. R. Hearn, claim £1 Bs. Judgment for plaintiffs for the amount claimed, with coats.—Same v, IT. Lord, claim £2 .2s. The defendant paid 17a 6d into Court. Judgment was given for plaintiffs for the amount claimed, with coots.—J. A. Willey v. T. Hodgson, claim 12b, the value of a cushion. Mr Cresswell appeared for defendant, who stated that he had received the cushion through & man named Swift. Hia Worship advised the plaintiff to get an order for the cushion from Swift, but said ha could not make any order. —D. Stranaghan v. T. S. Sibbald, claim £lO 10s. Mr M’Connell for plaintiff, Mr Scott for defendant. The case was adjourned till Oct. 25, defendant to pay the costs of the day. Crown Brewery Company v. Ingram, claim £9 10a, on judgment summons. The debtor, who did not appear, was ordered to make immediate payment; in default, five weeks’ imprisonment.— H. Marks v, W. T. Fowler, claim £29 3s Id on a dishonoured bill endorsed by defendant. Mr Kippenberger appeared for plaintiff, and Mr Stringer for defendant. The defence was. that defendant had received no notice of the dishonouring of the bill. Judgment was given for plaintiff with £5 7s costs.—E. Bray v. H. E. Jones, claim £4s—£2o the value of certain goods seized, and £25 damages for wrongful distraint. Mr M’Connell appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr Caygill for the defendant. Evidence was heard, and also argument for the plaintiff. Further argument was fixed to be heard on Monday.—T. H. Ritchey v. J, J. Riley, claim £l4 13a 6d. Mr Pleaher, for the plaintiff, applied to have the Official Assignee at Wellington substituted as plaintiff. Mr Beattie, for defendant, opposed this. The case was adjourned till Oct. 22.—The case of W, Butterfield v, C. Griffiths, claim £4 14s, was adjourned till Oct. 22. LYTTELTON. Thursday, Oct. 18. (Before Mr A. Chalmers, J.P.) Disobeying Lawful Commands,— John Osborne and James Darby, firemen belonging to the steamer Tongariro, pleaded guilty to a charge of disobeying lawful commands. They were ordered to pay expenses and to be put on board their steamer. ASHBURTON.* Thursday, Oct. 18. (Before Mr C. A. Wray, S.M.) Civil Oases.— Judgment was given in the cases brought against the Ashburton County Council in connection with the Rangitata licensing election. The claims wereJ. M'Keague £2O 12s, W. C. Ford £5 13a, Hinds School Committee £2, J. W. Smith 18s and J. Ward £ll 3s lid. In M’Keague’s case judgment was given for plaintiff for £l6 9s, and in the others for the full amount claimed. Leave to appeal was granted in the casas brought by M’Keague and Ward, but was refused in the others. By-Laws.— E. J. Center, for a breach of the borough by-laws by driving cattle through the streets of the town, was fined Is and costs.
