S 3 The steamer Kahu arrived from Wollington yesterday. She leaves to-night on her quarterly trip to the Chatham Islands with passengers, malls and cargo. The schooners Zior for Bluff, and John Bell for Wellington, aud Waitapu, with cargoes of produce, left port on Saturday Afternoon. The steamer Elingamitc, which is replacing the Tasmania in the trade vrith Sydney, has been a moat successful passenger steamer. She began her career in the intercolonial trade in November 1887, and since then she baa run regularly between Victoria, New South Wales aud Tasmania. During her time she has travelled upwards of 352,000 miles, and has carried soma 68,000 passengers without the slightest accident or mishap. Shaw, Savill and Albion Company’s E.M.S.S. lonic arrived oa Saturday morning from Wellington. She ia in command of Captain Lindsay,Captain Kidley having remained in London for the purpose, it is thought, of assuming command of the E.M.S.S. Gothic, See lands some 530 tons of merchandise here, aud is expected to leave on Wednesday night for Napier. She will then proceed to Wellington, her final port this voyage. SHIPPING TELEGTuAMS.
