i At a meeting of workers in the Political Beform League, the following resolution, with reference to the invitation to the. Duke of York to visit New Zealand, waa carried, to be sent to the Premier:— "That, considering the hardships of the unemployed and the many drawbacks the country settler* suffer from wretchedly bad roads, this meeting protests against public money being wasted on a royal visit.”
Dp to the present time, 1500 new claims for enrolment have been made, in view of the coming licensing elections. Charles Bloomfield has been committed for trial on a charge of the larceny of ,£7 and a silver watch, from a safe when Meenan’a store at Ahora was burned down.
Three Polish Jews, Moses Stein, alias Miller, Nathan Stein, alias Jackson, and Leon Stein, alias Smith, were charged at the Resident Magistrate’s Court with fraud and conspiracy, and were committed for trial.
Mr W. P. Massey,who contested Pranklyn with Major Harris, has accepted the invitation of the National Association to stand for Waitemata, JMr Jackson Palmer will also stand.
