Dr Stuart, Bisbop of Waiapu, was entertained at a farewell gathering at the Atheoaeum, Dean Movell presiding. A life-size portrait of the Bishop, by Lindat.ur, was presented to him by the members of the Synod, and the Bishop in turn presented it to the diocese, A purse of .£l2O. contributed m small amounts by Europeans and Maoris ia the diocese, was also presented to Dr Stuart, and speeches expressive of regret at bio departure were delivered by Anglican and other clergymen. The Bishop delivered an affectionate farewell address. Several addresses were also presented by the Cathedral Chapter and the Standing Committee on Saturday and to-day.
