WORK AMD WAGES.

SYDNEY, Jan. 29,
Tho management of tho Stockton Colliery has applied for police protection as soon as work ia resumed, which, with the assistance of non-unionists, is expected to be ia the course of a few days.
At a meeting of threshing machine owners, held at Temukr, on Tuesday, it was agreed that the price for threshing grain should bo 2-Jd per bushel for wheat and barley, and 2£d per bushel for oars, with £d per bushel extra oa the downs, where the stacks are difficult of access or in bad order. It was resolved that tho rate of wages be 8.) per 1000 bushels for oats, and XOa per 1000 for wheat and barley. In cases where tho men desire to board on the co-operative principle, 15s per week to be charged for the use of galley, coals and cooking utensils, the same to bs kept in good order, and the driver or owner to pay proportionate share of hire. Where board is found by owner the rate charged fco be 13s per week.
