RAILWAY RETURNS. [Per Press Association.! WELLINGTON, Dec. 14. The following are the railway returns for tbe four weeks ending D*o. 11 !Noeth Island.

The total births in the above boroughs amounted to 361, against 391 in October, a decrease of 30. The deaths in November were 193, a increase of £7 on the number in October. Of the total deaths, males contributed 101 and females 92.. Fifty deaths were of children under five years of age, being 25-91 per cent of the whole number ; 33 of these were under one year of age. The statistics show that the mortality for November at the four cities was not so low as in October, the number of deaths having risen from 6 to 15, aud thef proportion par cent of deaths from all causes from 6 - 45 to 14A2. Measles are still observed at Auckland and Christchurch, but there was only one case at each town lust month. Scarlatina caused a death at Auckland, influenza one at Dunedin, and diphtheria one at Wellington. There were sl-o at the four towns 3 deaths from whooping cough, 2 from typhoid fever and 3 from diarrhoea. IMMIGRATION AND EMIGRATION.
