WASHINGTON, Dec. 14. The Democrats insist that iron ore and coal should be subject to an import duty. MELBOURNE, Dec. 14. Biddings at the wool sales were spirited, especially for ordinary and greasy meriacs and cross-bred:. Greasy lambs realised 10|d, fleece 9d, scoured up to Is 2d. SYDNEY, Dec. 14. A strong tone has pervaded the wool market during tins week. Continental buyers have purchased largely. Prises, although no: quotably higher, have tended in favour of producers. Grtasy cross-breds are bringing 6ld to 10d, rcomed 10-ld to Is 5i l. One specially chartered eteamer takes, among other produce, this week, 450 tons of butter, valued at A43,0Q3 from Melbourne and Sydney.
