LAND BOARD.
OEDINAEY MEETING. The ordinary meeting of the Canterbury Band Board was held on Thursday; present—Mr J. W. A. March ant (Commie- ) sionor of Crown Lands), and Messrs, D. M'Millan, B. Meredith, M.H.E,, and tho Hon W. C. Walker. A Gazette notification of the appointment of Mr Meredith, as a member of the Board, was laid on tho table. The allotment of tho Lake Ellesmere sections as balloted for on Nov. 80 was approved. The Commissioner was authorised to deal with tho applications of Messrs W. Hannah and Isaac Wood for land. Mr John Webster was allowed to transfer his grazing license in Grey Survey District to George Thomas May. ’ Michael Poley, lease 835; John O’Connor, lease 340; John Hunt, lease 322; Arthur Shirley, lease 333; T. Black, * lease 873, holders of perpetual leases in Waimate district, were allowed one month each in which to comply with tho conditions of their leases, in default of which the leases to bo forfeited. Mr Cannon, Homeview Village, Cheviot, was granted permission to erect a dwellinghouse for himself and wife on Lot 22, hi* . wife holding Lot 21. The application of the executors of the late Angus Macdonald for 0(1 acres 2 roods 27 perched in Block XII., Geraldine survey district, was granted. This had previously been refused, and the opinion of the Board’s solicitor had been obtained. It was decided to call the attention of the ' Surveyor-General to this opinion. Messrs Neil Bros,' tenancy of the Native Pishing Eeserve, Lpts 11,12 and 13, Lake Ellesmere, was renewed for one year, subject to three months’ notice, at the rental previously paid, ■■■■■■■■ ■■ It was resolved to approve of- the lease for twelve mouths of , the low-lying, lands ■ at Lake Ellesmere being offered for application after public notification.. .? Several lots of land in the Waihao, Survey District were withdrawn from sale. The Commissioner was authorised to issue to the holders of land adjacent to Reserves 333 and 408 oh the H&lswell river bed licenses to occupy portions of this land up to the centre line between the properties. . Mr James M'Parlane was granted a grazing lease for ouo year, at a rental of j la 6d per acre per annum, of Crown lands on the Hurunui river. Mr M. Quinn’s offer, at <B2 12s 6d pM acre per year, for 2n Ir 86p of land in the Arowhenua township, for grazing purposes, was accepted. No tenders were received for tho other blocks opened, and it was received to allow them to lie open for application.
