He quite recognised the loss that Auckland sustained.- He also undertook that all publicity shoMd be given to decisions in regard to dutiable goods. Mr Porter, on behalf of the Chamber, thanked Mr Ward for the aid he had given in respect totha San hranoisoo service and the reduction in cable rates. Tho Colonial Treasurer said he always had thought that for its position, so far away from tho rest of the world, New Zealand should have the cheapest possible means of communication.
