At the half-yearly meeting of the Sonth Canterbury Jockey Club to-night, the Hon Treasurer reported that the Club had lost ,£2BO over the last meeting, caused by wot weather and the number of bookmakers present. The loss absorbed .£2OO on fixed deposit and the greater part of JBIOO credit balance. As the funds now stood tho Club had a credit balance of between i>SO and .£<lo. A recommendation to the Committee that the spring meeting should be changed to a summer meeting, to be held on tho Thursday and Friday nearest Anniversary Day, was adopted. It was resolved to hold the autumn meeting on April 5 and 6 if the dates do not clash with those selected by Wellington Racing Club. Nominations for the Tiinwald Racing Club's Annual Race Meeting close to-day. The Secretary states that _ arrangements have been made by which horses competing at the meeting can be sent to Christchurch immediately after the,lost race to compete at the Canterbury Jockey Club's Summer Meeting next day. The nominations for the Canterbury Trotting Club’s Boxing Day Meeting will close at the A 1 Hotel at ten o’clock this evening. Particulars will he found in an advertisement.
