LICENSING CASES.
[Peb Pesss Association.] DUNEDIN. Dec. 7. At tho City Court to-day, tho licenses of tho Prince of Wales Hotel was fined 20s and costs for supplying, liquor to a prohibited person. Knott, , the licensee of au hotel at Mosgiel, was charged with selling liquor on a Sunday, but as it transpired that the person supplied had hired a room, though not sleeping’ there, Mr Carew postponed decision, to consider whether he came within the category of a lodger. Eliza Sinclair, another licensee, was charged with tho same offence, and raised the plea that tho men had g-iven her to understand that they wore travellers, ono of them having come from Osmium, whioh was the fact. A fine of J2 and costs was inflicted. Alexander Bremner, of Ngapars, one of the men supplied, was charged with falsely representing himself as a traveller. Judgment was reserved. Eliza Sinclair was then fined £2 for supplying a prohibited person with drink, and the man supplied was Sued £2, with the alternative of seven days’ impria onment.
