The racehorse Eangipubi was shipped north by the steamer Flora, which left Lyttelton yesterday evening. A meeting of the Canterbury Metropolitan Trotting Association was held last evening, at the City Hotel. Mr O. Hood Williams occupied the chair. The Lancaster Park Amateur Trotting Club, the Ashburton Trotting Club and the Canterbury Trotting Club were represented by delegates. A code of rules waa finally adopted and ordered to be printed, Air Marr, Treasurer of the New Brighton Trotting Club, waited on the Association and asked what course it intended to adopt with reference to the disqualification of horses trotting at its forthcoming meeting. The Chairman replied that the Association would meet the New Brighton Club in a fair spirit, but it had adopted a code of rules which it intended fairly and strictly to administer. These rules provided for the disqualification of horses running at unauthorised meetings. If, however, the New Brighton Club would submit its programme, list of members and balance-sheet in the usual way, the difficulty would be got over. After some conversation, it was resolved—■“ That if the New Brighton Club submit its list of members, balance-sheet for the past year and programme, and provided the Association approve of the same, horses running at the forthcoming meeting cf the Club will not be disqualified.” After the transaction of some unimportant business, the meeting terminated.
