LONDON, Dec. 5.’ The Christian Brothers’ schools in Ireland decline to adopt the compulsory attendance of pupils on the grounds that their schools are not endowed bv the State. In the House of Commons Mr Sexton and his colleagues oppose the Government compelling the Brothers to comply with the Act. ANOTHER DISCOVERY OF DYNAMITE. A Sheriff, who was distraining for rent, discovered a box of dynamite with a fuse attached in a house at Hampstead., The tenant waa a man named Schneider, who had recently arrived from America. Twenty-four pounds of dynamite were also found in Schneider’s room in Chancery lane, Dec. 6. The man Schneider, in whose house at Hampstead a box of dynamite was found by the sheriff, is a Director of a Dynamite Projectile Company, and it is now believed tho packages of dynamite found on the premises were trade samples. THE DUBLIN OUTRAGE. Three more arrests have been made in connection with tho recent dynamite outrage in Dublin. MR GLADSTONE. It is reported that Mr Gladstone is engaged upon the work of translating the whole of Horace; his studies occupy him some hours daily. PROFESSOR TYNDALL. Professor Tyndall died from an overdose of chloral. THE DUKE OF COBURG. The Duke of * Coburg (Prince Alfred) has resigned his seat in the Privy Council. VICTORIAN BUTTER. The War Office, is arranging with the chief military hospitals in Great Britain to test the suitability of Victorian tinned butter. The Admiralty has selected a Committee to teat and experiment with Victorian tinned butter 'at certain stations on the Homeward route, and also to teat the article at officers’ mess tables. OBITUARY. PARIS, Dec. 5. The Marquis de Ray, founder of the abortive colonising scheme in the Pacific, is dead.
