J MURDER. . SOUTH AUSTRALIA. ON the 15th OCTOBER, 1893, the hody of a man, name unknown, was found in the Murray river, about three miles from Morgan. The head was gashed and throat cut. The body had apparently been in the water ten days or more, and, as the fiver was flowing strongly, probably drifted along distance. Description—Forty years of age j (perhaps loss), about sft Oiu high, medium build, ! good teeth (one deficient in lower Jaw), hair, most of which had disappeared, apparently a lightbrown ; the sleeve of a white shirt was tied round j the neck. The body was clothed in a brown merino singlet, a navy-blue cotton shirt with narrow red and white stripes, a brown merino cotton sock, 1 a black diagonal cloth rac Scat with cloth-covered buttons, hound pockets; both side seams of the coat had been ripped and re-sown, evidently by a man’s hand ; a common grey blanket was tied like j a shawl around the shoulders.' The hody was j minus hat, trousers, boots, vest and one sock, j In the coat pocket was found a skein of black j thread, doubled and knotted ns though intended I Tor a fishing line. Nothing was found on the body that would'lead to identification. The clothes are I in possession of the Morgan police, and may he j inspected. An inquest was held, aud the jury ! returned a verdict of “ Wilful Murder against j some person or persons unknown.” The Adelaide < police authorities would he glad to hear from any j person who might be able to supply a clue to j deceased’s identity.
