THE FUGITIVE OFFENDERS ACT.
[Pm Passs ASSOCIATION.!-. AUCKLAND, Deo. 2. Yesterday afternoon at the Resident Magistrate’s Court, before Mr H. W. Ncrthcroft, E.M., Tobias Tobias was charged with having, on or about Feb. 28, 1885, at St Hilda, Victoria, being a British possession in which part 2 of the Fugitive Offenders Act, 1881, applies* unlawfully and maliciously caused grievous bodily harm to Beatrice Tobias. Evidence in the case was heard yesterday. This morning his Worship gave judgment. He held that defendant did not come under the Fugitive Offenders Act. Defendant was therefore discharged. Hie Worship admitted him to bail for three months to allow an appeal against his decision if thought fit.
