The Official Receiver is suing Sir H. Isaac and Messrs Ogg, Gardner, Bottomley and the other Directors of the Anglo-Australian Publishing Union, for ,£BO,OOO, contribution to the Assets Company. Mr Gardner paid .£SOOO, and the Judge acquitted him of liability to further claims. EARTHQUAKE. August 5.

Bridgeman chief officer, and Jones steward of the ship Durbridge, who were arrested in Liverpool on the charge of murdering Captain Little, during the visit of the vessel to Newcastle, New South Wales, in August, 1892, have been acquitted, and Leech, the second officer of the ship, will probably be indicted for perjury. Leech, in his evidence, said that prior to the death of Captain Little he heard accused say the captain ought to he shot. Subsequently he heard a scuffle in the cabin. Leech was the sole accuser of Bridgeman and Jones, and his testimony was not supported by the members of the'crew. YACHTING.

The Iverna to-day heat the Meteor for a private wager between the owner of the former and the German Emperor, who owns the latter yacht. The Navajo was again disabled in today’s contests and ran ashore, but was floated off without sustaining any injury. THE CHICAGO EXHIBITION.

A man has confessed to firing the World’s Fair in order to cover extensive thefts by employees. Daring a Russian fete in the Chicago Exhibition, an insult was paid to a picture of the Czar by anarchists. In the meUe knives and daggers were used, and twelve persons were wounded. The Chicago Exhibition has funds in hand, and is paying dividends.
