VIOTOBT FOE ME CABMAN, [P®B Press Association. I AUCKLAND, August 4. The City election resulted in the return' of Mr Cadman by a large majority Cadman w 1883 Sees m* m, m 1182 i Majority for Mr Cadmaa 751 The contest wan well fought, and the greatest good humour and order prevailed, l though the fight excited the greatest interest of any single election in the history of Auckland. A crowd of severed; thousand people gathered in front of the City Hall, and awaited for bourn the 1 result of the poll, which warn received with great cheering. The electors entitled tpi vote number 6068, of whom 3016 votod. At the dose of the poll Mr Cadman did not appear to make a speech, and his sup* porters were greatly disappointed thereat,’ At the general election, when throe members for Auckland City were elected 1 (Messrs Shera, T. Thompson and Bees) the voting was as follows-J. M. Shera (L) 2006, T. Thompson (L) 1860, W. L. Eees (L) 1761. A. Porter (L) 1501, W. J; Napier (L) 1819, Dr Wallis (0) 748, H. Wj Farnell (L) 256. The voting on the election for Thames was:—A, J. Cadman (L) 926, E. H. Tayioh (L) 899.
