The New Zealand Farmers’ Cooperative Association or Canterbury, Limited, reports for the week ending Friday, August 4, as follows: The weather during the past week has been generally inclement and of a character to retard growth. Business in grain and produce has been steady, with fair export trade passing. Wheat, despite the decline cabled from Home, fairly maintains late rates, but the volume of business is less than usual at this period. Oats have been offering mors freely, and the market has kept steady. Beans and peas offer in small lines, but keep pace with demand. Ryegrass is easier, on account of more liberal offerings. A fair quantity of cocksfoot has been offered, and the market has been in sellers’ favour, but closes easier. Potatoes, after showing signs of weakness earlier in the week, again rallied, and close firm at quotations. Dairy produce is in fair supply. Our quotations are Wheat—Prime milling, Tuscan and Pearl 2a lOd to 2s lid. Hunter’s 2a 8d to 2a Dd. Oats, milling Canadians 2s 3d, short feed 2s Id to 2s 2d, Duns 2a Id, Danish 2s. Beans 3a Id to 3a 2d, weathered 2a 8d to 2s lOd. Peas, Blue Prussians 3s to 3a Id. Ryegrass, old pasture machine-dressed 4s 3d, ordinary 4s. Cocksfoot, 151 b per bushel, 4d, 141 b 3|d. Potatoes, 87s 6d to 90,s country stations, 100 ato 102 s f.o.b. Bacon and hams 7d to 7id. Butter, prime fresh, 10d to lid, salt 7d. Cheese, loaf 4d to 4£d. R ANCHOR A HORSE FAIR. At the monthly horse fair of Mr W. Buss (associated with the New Zealand Land Association) at Eangiora yesterday, there was an entry of fifty-three, and the demand being good most of the horses were sold. The prices were:—For good draughts £lB to £2,1 10s; medium do, ,£l2 to .£l6 j hacks up to £10; weeds, £3los to £7.
